Dallas Wedding Venues: Hall of State, On The Levee and 11 More, Light Timed

Thirteen Dallas-Fort Worth wedding venues with Google ratings, from Hall of State and The Carlisle Room to the Fort Worth Botanic Garden, with 2027 sunsets.

October 14, 2026

Dallas-Fort Worth is two cities' worth of venues, and they film very differently. Downtown Dallas has Art Deco rooms with marble and tall windows. The Design District has bare industrial space. Fort Worth has a 120-acre public garden. North of both, barns and event halls sit under a wide, flat sky. We picked thirteen that couples ask about and worked out what each one needs from a film crew, and when the light is on your side.

The light in Dallas

Computed for the 15th of each month in 2027. The start time is sunset minus two hours and forty-five minutes, which leaves room for a thirty-minute ceremony, family photos, and a portrait walk that lands in golden hour.

North Texas is flat, so there is no ridge to steal the last half hour the way there is in mountain cities. What steals it instead is buildings. A downtown venue between towers can lose direct sun well before the sunset time, and we plan the portrait walk toward an open street, a park, or a rooftop.

Historic and Art Deco downtown

The Hall of State is the most cinematic room in Dallas. It was built for the 1936 Texas Centennial in Fair Park, and the scale, the murals and the statuary give a film a sense of weight that a modern room cannot. It is also stone and very tall, which means sound travels and lingers. We put a lavalier on the officiant and one on whoever speaks first, and we take a direct feed from the DJ for toasts. Relying on a camera microphone in a room like this is how vows end up sounding like they were recorded in a train station.

The Carlisle Room and The Room on Main are the two downtown rooms couples compare. The Carlisle is Art Deco with high ceilings and marble, which reads beautifully on camera but bounces sound the same way the Hall of State does. The Room on Main has floor-to-ceiling windows, and that changes everything about timing. A ceremony there in the hour before sunset gets soft side light across the whole room. A ceremony after dark turns the windows black, and the room needs to be lit from inside.

The Venue at 400 North Ervay is the one with two personalities: a rooftop and a vintage courtroom inside a converted post office. The rooftop is where the evening light is. It is also where the wind is, and rooftop wind is the enemy of clean vow audio and of veils. If the ceremony is up there, we mic both of you, keep a windscreen on everything, and plan family photos downstairs in the courtroom where the light is steady.

Industrial

On The Levee is industrial space near downtown, and industrial space films well if you plan for it. Exposed structure and hard surfaces look great in a highlight film. They are also usually dim once the sun is down. We bring our own lighting for the reception and ask the planner early about where the uplighting will go so that the dance floor does not end up as a silhouette. Brake & Clutch Warehouse is a dedicated wedding venue in the same part of the conversation; we would scout it before committing to a lighting plan.

Gardens and Turtle Creek

The Fort Worth Botanic Garden and its Japanese Garden are the outdoor names in the metro, and the Japanese Garden sits within the botanic garden grounds. Cherry trees, koi ponds and arched bridges are a gift for portraits and for slow, ground-level camera movement. Whether a ceremony or portrait session is allowed in a given spot, and at what hour, is the garden's call, so we confirm before planning around it. Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park is the Dallas-side garden option, and it pairs naturally with a Hall of State reception since both are in Fair Park.

Along Turtle Creek, Rosewood Mansion is a hotel, so getting ready, the ceremony and the reception can all happen without anyone getting in a car, which saves coverage hours. Arlington Hall at Turtle Creek Park has the park around it, which solves the "where do we go for golden hour" question in two minutes of walking.

Outside the city

Morgan Creek Barn in Aubrey is north of the metro, where the sky is open in every direction. That is the best sunset setup on this list and also the most exposed to Texas weather. Barns are often warm in summer and dim at night. The open field is where the portraits go, and the table's golden-hour time matters more here than anywhere else.

Weather, briefly

Dallas summers are hot, and from June through August an outdoor ceremony at the table's start time can still be in the high 90s. Spring brings the most color and also the thunderstorm season, so any outdoor plan in April or May needs an indoor backup. October is the month most couples want for good reason: warm days, cooler evenings, and a sunset just before seven.

What we would do

An October wedding at The Room on Main: ceremony at 4:10 while the windows are still bright, family photos inside, then a walk out onto the street for portraits at 6:20 and reception coverage until the send-off. That fits the 8-hour Reverie, which also adds drone footage of the venue where it is allowed. A May garden ceremony in Fort Worth: ceremony at 5:35, portraits at 7:45 among the trees, and a downtown reception, which is a ten-hour day once travel between sites is counted.
