New York Wedding Venues: Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Pier Sixty and 12 More
Fourteen New York wedding venues, from Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Ladies Pavilion to Pier Sixty and The Dumbo Loft, with Google ratings and 2027 sunsets.
October 14, 2026
In New York the venue decides the light before you do. A pier on the Hudson faces the sunset, a loft in Dumbo faces the bridge and the skyline, a garden in Brooklyn has trees to soften the afternoon, and a Midtown hall may have no outside light at all. So the useful question is not just which room you love but where the sun will be when you are standing in it. Here are fourteen venues across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Yonkers, sorted by setting, with the light for every month of 2027.
The light in New York
Computed for the 15th of each month in 2027. The ceremony start is sunset minus two hours and forty-five minutes.
| Month | Start ceremony | Golden hour | Sunset | Daylight |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| January | 2:08 PM | 4:11 PM | 4:53 PM | 9.6 h |
| February | 2:45 PM | 4:52 PM | 5:30 PM | 10.7 h |
| March | 4:17 PM | 6:26 PM | 7:02 PM | 11.9 h |
| April | 4:50 PM | 6:58 PM | 7:35 PM | 13.3 h |
| May | 5:21 PM | 7:26 PM | 8:06 PM | 14.5 h |
| June | 5:43 PM | 7:47 PM | 8:28 PM | 15.1 h |
| July | 5:41 PM | 7:45 PM | 8:26 PM | 14.8 h |
| August | 5:09 PM | 7:16 PM | 7:54 PM | 13.8 h |
| September | 4:20 PM | 6:29 PM | 7:05 PM | 12.5 h |
| October | 3:30 PM | 5:38 PM | 6:15 PM | 11.1 h |
| November | 1:53 PM | 3:57 PM | 4:38 PM | 9.9 h |
| December | 1:44 PM | 3:45 PM | 4:29 PM | 9.3 h |
One city-specific caveat: buildings. Between tall blocks, the street loses direct sun well before the table's sunset. On the water, on a rooftop, or in a park, you get the full evening.

Gardens and parks
Brooklyn Botanic Garden is the most reviewed place on this list by a wide margin, and it is a public garden first: 52 acres, a Japanese garden, and the cherry blossoms that draw crowds every spring. For a wedding that means texture everywhere and shade when you need it, and it also means planning around the public on busy weekends. Ladies Pavilion is a small, ornate cast-iron structure from 1871 overlooking a lake, which is about as close to a storybook ceremony as Manhattan offers. It is an open-sided structure, so the ceremony is effectively outdoors: wind on the microphones, ambient city sound, and the table's start time matters. We put a recorder on the officiant and a second on one of you. The Picnic House in Prospect Park puts the reception inside the park, so the portrait walk is out the door.
On the water
Pier Sixty and The Lighthouse both sit on the Hudson, and the Hudson faces west. That is the best sunset orientation in the city: the sun goes down across the river toward New Jersey, and a portrait on the water's edge at golden hour lights both of you from the front and side. Giando on the Water in Brooklyn looks the other way, at the Manhattan skyline, which is the view you want at blue hour, the twenty minutes after sunset, when the towers light up and the sky is still deep blue. On film, that is the shot. Waterfront ceremonies have one constant problem, and it is wind. A lavalier on the officiant is not optional.
Lofts and converted spaces
The Dumbo Loft and Lights on Kent are listed as dedicated wedding venues, and we will leave the descriptions at that. Dumbo's location speaks for itself: the bridge and the skyline are a few minutes' walk from almost anywhere in the neighborhood, which makes the portrait walk easy. Brooklyn Winery has its working winery on site. The general note for lofts: they are lovely in daylight through big windows and dark once the sun goes, so the reception needs a videographer who brings their own lighting and an honest conversation with the venue about house lights.
Formal halls
Cipriani 42nd Street and Gotham Hall are the grand Manhattan rooms couples ask about for black-tie weddings. Large formal halls tend to be hard-surfaced and reverberant, so toasts and vows need dedicated audio rather than a camera microphone, and a second videographer earns their fee by being on the other side of a big room. With no reliance on window light, these rooms free up the ceremony time; the light question becomes when you slip out for a few minutes of daylight portraits.
Glass and skyline
Glasshouse Chelsea has floor-to-ceiling windows and city views, and Manhattan Penthouse is a penthouse with skyline views and natural light. Both reward a ceremony timed to the table: natural light through glass in the late afternoon, then the city coming on behind you through dinner. The catch is backlight. Guests seated against a window at sunset turn into silhouettes, so we choose angles that keep the window to the side.
Outside the city
The Fairways at Dunwoodie in Yonkers is a golf course event venue, which means open lawn, a horizon, and sun that is not blocked by anything taller than a tree. It is the simplest light on this list and the most exposed to weather.
What we would do
A June wedding at Pier Sixty: ceremony at 5:45, cocktails and family photos, then out to the river at 7:47 for golden hour, with the sunset at 8:28 behind you. Back for dinner and dancing. The 8-hour collection, The Reverie, covers it and adds venue drone footage where flying is permitted, which in much of Manhattan it is not.
A late-September loft wedding in Dumbo: first look at 3:00 on the cobblestones, ceremony at 4:20, family photos, a walk to the water at 6:29 for golden hour, and back for blue hour on the skyline just after the 7:05 sunset.
